It is a great pleasure for us to welcome you to the 8th EAI International Conference on Mobile Networks and Management (MONAMI) held in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on 23-24 October 2016. MONAMI 2016 aims at bringing together top researchers, academics and practitioners specializing in the area of Mobile Network Management, Service Management, Virtualization and Object Management.
Multiaccess and resource management, mobility management, and network management have emerged as core topics in the design, deployment and operation of current and future networks. Yet, they are treated as separate, isolated domains with very little interaction between the experts in these fields and lack cross-pollination. Recently, new avant-garde techniques and solutions have emerged; as notable examples, Software-Defined Networking, Network Virtualization and the Cloud Paradigm have taken roots. All in all, these techniques bring about new requirements and scientific challenges, and migration strategies are required to provide a smooth transition from today’s legacy systems to future systems. At the same time new wireless broadband access technologies, in what has been referred to as 5G, are posing new challenges and requirements that need to be taken into account; energy efficiency, densification, offloading are examples of the new issues the scientific community is currently addressing. In addition, challenges and solutions related to Network Security and Wireless Sensor Networks (IoT) are also among the relevant topics within today’s research community that have picked significant interest over the last years.
MONAMI 2016 offers the opportunity to leading researchers, industry professionals and academics around the world to meet and discuss the latest advances in these areas and present results related to technologies for true plug-and-play networking, efficient use of all infrastructure investments, and access competition. The aim of the forum is to disseminate the latest innovative mobile network solutions for increased competition and cooperation in an environment with a multitude of access technologies, network operators and business actors.
The conference has been structured along a single track including four sessions, which will feature the oral presentation of the 16 papers that were accepted after a thorough peer-review process (all the submitted papers underwent a thorough peer-review process, all of them revised by experts in the corresponding area), based on their relevance to the scope of the conference and their technical merit.
MONAMI 2016 will feature a keynote, given by Prof. Polly Huang from National Taiwan University Taipei, who will speak about “User-Centric Multimedia Networking for the Mobile Era - How to Strike a Balance between User Demand and Scarce Resource”. Further, Peter Kietzmann (HAW Hamburg/RIOT community) will offer a tutorial on “Programming and Networking for the Internet of Things using RIOT, the friendly OS for the IoT”.
We are happy to welcoming you in Abu Dhabi!
